Clear pricing for one-to-one English lessons
Online lessons anywhere in the world, face-to-face lessons in London, and one honest price structure that rewards committed students. No subscriptions, no hidden fees, no opaque enquiry forms.
How our pricing works
At PS English you pay for quality: experienced native British teachers, personal support and carefully planned one-to-one lessons. All lessons are paid for upfront. Lessons start at 30 minutes and extend in 15-minute increments up to two hours.
The 30-minute lesson is the base price: £20 on Flexi Essential and £25 on Flexi Premium. Both plans include everything that makes a PS English lesson a PS English lesson. Premium adds flexibility around short-notice cancellations and a few monthly extras.
You reduce what you pay per lesson in two ways: take longer lessons, and book a larger package. A 90-minute lesson costs less per minute than a 30-minute one, and a 30-hour block costs less per hour than a 5-hour one.
The two discounts stack. A longer lesson inside a larger package earns both discounts, applied to the base rate. That is why the best value per minute sits at the bottom right of both tables below.
Choose your plan, your lesson length and your package
All lessons on this page are online, available anywhere in the UK and worldwide. If you would prefer face-to-face lessons in London, the rates are on our London page. Work through the four steps below to design the plan that suits you.
Choose your plan
Both plans include everything that makes a PS English lesson a PS English lesson: a native British teacher, a tailor-made one-to-one lesson, and a focus on real, useful English. Premium adds extra flexibility around short-notice cancellations and a few monthly extras.
Flexible one-to-one lessons with all the essentials.
Extra flexibility plus monthly extras to reward committed students.
Choose your lesson length
A lesson is a minimum of 30 minutes and extends in 15-minute increments up to two hours. The 30-minute lesson sets the base rate per minute. The more time you commit to in a single lesson, the better the value.
| 30 minutes | Base rate, no discount |
|---|---|
| 45 minutes | 2 per cent off |
| 60 minutes | 4 per cent off |
| 75 minutes | 6 per cent off |
| 90 minutes | 8 per cent off |
| 105 minutes | 10 per cent off |
| 120 minutes | 12 per cent off, best value per minute |
Our recommendation. Most students get the most out of a 60-minute or 90-minute lesson. Half an hour is enough to focus on one specific item, but an hour or more gives you proper time to speak, listen, ask questions and practise.
Choose your package size
Packages are paid upfront, in a single payment. The bigger the package, the lower the rate. There are no monthly direct debits and no rolling subscriptions: you buy a block of lesson hours in advance and use them when it suits you.
| 0 to 14 hours | Base rate, no discount |
|---|---|
| 15 to 29 hours | 4 per cent off |
| 30 to 44 hours | 8 per cent off |
| 45 to 59 hours | 12 per cent off |
| 60 to 89 hours | 16 per cent off |
| 90 hours and over | 20 per cent off, best value |
Our recommendation. If you are committed to making real progress, a package of 30 hours or more typically pays for itself in savings and gives you the consistency that drives real fluency gains.

Pricing FAQs
How do I pay for my lessons?
Packages are paid upfront, in a single payment, by bank transfer, debit or credit card. We do not run monthly direct debits or rolling subscriptions. You buy a block of lesson hours in advance and use them when it suits you. Invoices are sent before payment and a receipt is issued once payment is confirmed.
Are lessons refundable?
Used credit cannot be refunded. We offer a 75 per cent refund on any unused credit that is still within its expiry date, on written request. The full detail is set out in our Terms and Conditions.
What is your cancellation policy?
Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. A lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice is normally charged in full, because the time has been blocked out for you. Flexi Premium includes one free 24-hour cancellation per month, which is there for the unavoidable last-minute clashes that life occasionally produces.
Do my prepaid hours expire?
On Flexi Premium, your hours never expire. On Flexi Essential, we work out a fair deadline based on your own schedule and then add a 50 per cent time buffer to cover holidays, sickness or busy weeks at work. If you buy 4 hours and plan one 60-minute lesson a week, those lessons would normally take 4 weeks, so we give you 6. Start a block on 1 July and your hours stay valid until 5 August. Almost all of our students use their hours well within this window. If you know your schedule is completely unpredictable, Premium gives you total peace of mind.
Can I switch between online and face-to-face lessons?
Yes. Many of our London-based students mix the two. If you move a single lesson to in-person at short notice, a supplementary fee applies for that lesson. If you would like a regular mix of online and face-to-face, email us and we will set your package up properly. Your teacher and your lesson plan stay the same across both formats.
What is included in the free consultation?
A 20-minute conversation in which we confirm your goals, any preferences you have for lesson content, and a time for lessons that works for you. It gives us enough information to match you with the teacher we believe suits your needs best. It is free, with no commitment to book lessons.
