Who English for Executives is for
English for Executives at PS English is for senior leaders whose English needs to carry weight in the rooms they walk into. Most of our senior students already speak English well. They come to us not because they want to learn English but because they want their English to match the seniority of the role, the visibility of the meetings, and the consequence of the conversations. This is executive English coaching at one-to-one pace, with the level of discretion that comes with it.
Executive English coaching works especially well for:
Senior managers and directors stepping into a more visible role where English-language communication is suddenly under more scrutiny
Heads of function and department leads preparing for board presentations, senior stakeholder meetings and leadership updates in English
Founders and business owners briefing partners, investors or a wider team, and building a profile at English-language events
International managers moving into a UK role who need their English to feel native to the room within weeks rather than years
Senior leaders facing a defining moment in English: a conference talk, a company-wide address, a high-stakes interview or a difficult negotiation
What you work on in executive coaching lessons
Every executive English lesson at PS English is built around the rooms you actually speak in. There is no fixed syllabus. In the first lesson, your teacher works out where you are, what you are about to do in English, and where your current way of saying things falls short of the room you are in. The lessons that follow are built directly around those situations. Most senior students focus on some combination of the areas below.
Setting the tone, framing the discussion, summarising clearly, and intervening at the right moment. The skill is less about vocabulary than about pace, weight and timing in English.
English for MeetingsBriefings, updates, quarterly conversations and one-to-one stakeholder management. The language of confidence, candour and credible reassurance, none of which translate cleanly from other languages.
Preparing and rehearsing the speech, the panel, the conference talk, the company address.
English Presentation SkillsInterviews, podcasts, conference panels and recorded appearances. Working through likely questions, refining the answers, and rehearsing the small phrases that defuse a difficult line of questioning in English.
Town halls, all-hands, written notes to the organisation, video messages, the moments where a leader sets a tone for a department or a whole organisation. Often more linguistically demanding than the external moments.
Performance conversations, restructuring discussions, hiring and exit conversations, sensitive disagreements with peers or senior colleagues. English nuance matters most when the stakes are highest and the audience smallest.
The tone, the pace, the pronunciation, the small habits that read as senior in English.
British English PronunciationHow our executive coaching is different
Senior-tier teaching, not senior-tier branding
Executive English coaching at PS English is a senior-tier service in practice as well as in name. Lessons are slower, quieter and more conversational than at lower tiers. Materials are real: your own briefing notes, your own speech drafts, your own video recordings. Two senior students working with us will rarely have the same lesson plan, because the rooms they walk into are rarely the same room.
Discretion, by default
Senior students often share commercially sensitive context in their lessons. We treat that as the norm rather than the exception. Lesson notes stay between you and your teacher, working materials are deleted at your request, and we are happy to discuss confidentiality arrangements where your role or your employer requires them.
Experienced British teachers
Our teachers are native British English speakers with years of experience teaching adult professionals, including senior leaders. You learn the natural British English used in the boardrooms, conference platforms and meeting rooms you will appear in, from someone who has prepared other senior leaders for the same moments. No global roster, no rotating teachers, no junior assignments.
Flexible, online or in person
Lessons fit around your schedule, not the other way around. Take them online from anywhere in the UK, in person in central London, or mix the two as it suits you. Last-minute reschedules around board meetings, month-end or travel are expected, not problematic.
I had used English at work for twenty years and led an international team for ten of those. None of that had prepared me for presenting to the board of our parent company. Six weeks of weekly lessons with PS English changed how I sounded in the room. My teacher was patient with the language, honest about the delivery, and entirely discreet about the brief.

What is English for executives?
English for executives is one-to-one English coaching for senior leaders whose English needs to perform in high-stakes situations: board presentations, senior stakeholder meetings, public speaking and leadership communication. The coaching is not about learning English from scratch; most senior students already speak English well. It is about closing the gap between competent English and the quieter, more confident, more weighted English that senior rooms expect. At PS English, every lesson is built around the actual rooms the student walks into.
How is English for executives different from business English?
Business English is mostly about the work itself: emails, reports, meetings, presentations, the daily running of a business in English. Executive English coaching is about the seniority of the conversations and the consequence of the words. A senior leader does not usually need help writing the report. They need help addressing the people who will read it, in the language and at the level the situation demands. The grammar is the same. The stakes, the audience and the level of polish required are different. Many of our senior students have already done years of general or business English; what they want is the next tier.
What are key business English phrases an executive should know?
The most useful "executive" phrases are not the long, formal ones; they are the small, repeated ones that frame how you sound in a senior room. Phrases for opening a meeting with quiet authority ("Thank you all for making the time"), for intervening without interrupting ("If I may come in here"), for disagreeing without escalating ("I want to push back on that gently"), for closing without rushing ("Let me summarise where I think we have landed") and for managing time without sounding impatient ("I am going to be conscious of the clock") do more work in a senior conversation than any vocabulary list. We work on these in lessons in the context of the actual meetings, calls and speeches each student is preparing for.
What are professional words to use at executive level?
The honest answer is that there is no separate executive vocabulary, and trying to learn one will make you sound less senior, not more. Senior English is mostly plain English, said clearly, with a small number of well-chosen phrases used at the right moment. The shift from mid-career English to senior English is usually about saying less, saying it more deliberately, and choosing simpler words rather than more impressive ones. We work on this directly in lessons, often by recording a meeting or speech and going through it line by line.
What is A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 in English, and what level do I need to be?
A1 to C2 is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the standard six-level scale for English ability. A1 is a beginner, C2 is near-native fluency. Executive English coaching at PS English is most useful from C1 (advanced) upwards, where the student already speaks fluently and the work is about senior polish rather than language acquisition. Many of our senior students are at C2 in conversation and still benefit from coaching, because senior English is not a level on a chart; it is a quality of presence that has to be developed in context.
Are lessons confidential?
Yes. Discretion is the default for executive coaching at PS English. Lesson notes stay between you and your teacher, working materials are deleted at your request, and we are happy to discuss confidentiality arrangements where your role or your employer requires them. Senior students regularly share commercially sensitive context, such as forthcoming announcements or internal discussions; we treat that as the norm rather than the exception, and you should not have to manage what you tell us.
How much does executive English coaching cost?
Our pricing is on the Pricing page. Lessons are priced per hour and most senior students book in flexible blocks rather than fixed packages. Many of our senior students are funded by their employer or company; if that is your situation, we are happy to invoice your organisation directly and to handle the administrative side discreetly.
Are lessons online or face-to-face?
Both are available. Many senior students choose online for the scheduling flexibility, particularly when travel is part of the role. Face-to-face lessons are available in central London for students who prefer them, and many senior students mix the two. Online lessons use Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, whichever you already use at work. You can read more on our Online English Coach and Face-to-Face Lessons in London pages.
